Perry's Fireplace

The idea came from the Brick Development Association book

First, a full-scale plan was drawn, to determine the size of the circles and the shape of the cuts

The circumference was then transfered to the working area and the radial headers cut according to the template

The base was formed by three courses of these radial headers

The soldiers were set-out and dry-bonded to ensure they would work without having to cut the bricks. There was a 30mm oversail and the curve was formed by the wedge-shaped joints

These soldiers were regularly checked to ensure they were exactly up-right and plumb

The hearth is now ready to be filled with concrete
