Perry's Competion

This my finished work for my competion
 
Setting out the brickwork, checking it is level and plumb. 
This is the back.
 
This is halfway up, but the top red stretchers were replaced because they were surposed to be indented. 
both picture below and above show the back of the finished piece.
This piece took me a total of 20hrs

Setting the Corner

These pictures illustrate how to ensure the corners are correct. As can be seen, the brick is levelled both ways. The plumbing point is then checked and the brick is eased into position, so that the bubble is in the right place


Laying Courses to Gauge

This picture illustrates how to check that each course is laid to gauge by measuring...

Laying to a Line

This shows the process...For example, laying mortar on the bricks, striking off the excess, creating a furrow, placing the arris to the line, etc...




Buttering a Header

These pictures show two different methods of ensuring a full joint, while keeping the bricks clean

Half-Round Pointing

These pictures show the process of pointing using a half-round jointer. As can be seen, the perps are done first, then the bed-joints. Any burrs are cleanly stuck off
